Christmas haul! | Blogmas

The winter smells, the brewing tea, the cosy shawls and warm hugs. There are a lot of things to love about this season. I got my hands on many such things and decided to do a mini christmas haul! Here are some things i am loving at the moment. 01. THE STARBUCKS CHRISTMAS MUG What signals the onset of christmas better than sipping hot chocolate in that ever famous red cup. I'm not an ardent fan of Starbucks though (my initial experiences unsatisfactory) but reading about this festive cup on other blogs, made me crave to get my hands on one!  2. SWEET FRAGRANCES Walking around the mall one day, my nose decided to sniff this shop from way over there! (makes hand gestures to illustrate the distance between my nose and the shop). Rosemoore, is a fragrance shop all the way from UK. The scents are beautiful, perfect for keeping as well as gifting. We tested out the Vanilla, Lavender and Egyptian Cotton fragrances. Clearly my favourite ended up being the Egyptian cot...

Blogmas | Chocolate Rum Balls Recipe

These chocolate balls, infused with a bit of rum and coffee and deliciously rolled around in a bed of coconut are my mum's favourite recipe. When she's not looking, i steal a few from her stash and polish them off. And then she makes more! Even while I write this, I can that taste of sweet chocolate that gives way to the bitter coffee. And i imagine learning to make these some time in the future. For now that's a distant future, since i just envision myself bribing my mother to pack hundreds for me. Thank you mother! YOU NEED: 2 ½ packets of Marie Vita Biscuits  1 tin of condensed milk  200gms Coconut powder  Cocoa powder  Coffee  Rum  METHOD:  Crush the biscuits.  One by one add the rest of the ingredients and mix thoroughly.  If the mixture is too dry, add a little milk.  Coat with coconut powder.  Fill your tummies!! ------------------------------------------------------------ This post is a...

BLOGMAS | DIP DYED SPOONS DIY

Happy Day 2 of BLOGMAS guys! I thought i'd give you something easy to DIY today. Our kitchens are easily the most neglected areas of the house. We tend to keep everything over there under lock down and hidden away. I came across these on Pinterest while aimlessly surfing one day. Aren't they the cutest? Go crazy with any colours you like and show off to the entire world! YOU NEED: Wooden spoons Non-toxic paint Tape Paint brush METHOD: - Tape the area on the spoon from where you want the paint to start from. This will help to keep the edges clean and straight. - Paint the lower part of the spoon in the desired colour - Wait for it to dry. Add another coat. - Remove the tape slowly. - Do a little spoon dance and make your neighbours jealous! Hope you liked this! See ya

UNDER THE BANGKOK SKY! | PART 03

A mix of all kinds of music swaying in from the open bars, lights dancing to the beat every now and then and the streets that never seem to sleep…Bangkok was an interesting end to the journey! We took the overnight bus from Phuket, thus making the experience a little more local and a little more fun. Reaching the city as it woke up, the sun somewhere there just behind the buildings, made the 11 hour journey totally worth it! Our home for the next 4 days was just at the corner from Khao San Road , Bangkok's nightlife destination. Rambuttri Village Inn and Plaza , a quaint touristy hotel, was perfect and surprisingly great for budget travellers. We spent nights walking the streets, discovering something new every day.  A day donning sun hats and jumping from one tourist spot to another is a day well spent! The sights are endless here…right from the enchanting Big Buddha , the temples, and the old houses to the clean streets, and mall lined roads....

LOVE COMES FULL CIRCLE

As I sit here, fiddling with my nails, camera or coffee...feet tapping away to ward of the butterflies in my stomach...I am left a little shaken. I am waiting, not patiently i should add, for an important photography assignment. My brain is reminding me that I can't mess this up. It's telling me to buckle up and do good. My heart is silently watching this chaos. In the midst of this nerve-wracking tug-of-war i look up only to realise that i am in the same mall i got my first camera from.  I guess it was 3 years ago..if not more. Things were at a low point in my life. I had said my goodbyes to the person who inspired me the most in the world. I sat next to him, day after day, eyes following his every move.I cried when he did, and i laughed when he would. He was a photographer and the best one in my eyes!  I'd never considered photography before this. Never thought i'd hold a camera and love disappearing behind it so much. As i sit here in the same...

THAILAND | PHUKET PART 02

Trying to paddle a canoe, all by yourself, when you're miles away from the shore and in the midst of beautiful blue water. Your eyes can see nothing when you look around, except for the slightly nervous and slightly elated faces of others trying to accomplish the same. Friendly diving competitions ensue on board the cruise and you know that this trip was totally worth-it! Phuket, much like the rest of Thailand, is a place of culture, of temples and of paying respect to traditions. We visited the biggest buddhist temple in the vicinity, The Wat Chalong , decked in glorious reds and oranges. A strange silence seemed to surround the entire area, welcoming in many ways. And even though i couldn't understand most of what i saw or read there, there is a comfortable joy in just standing in one corner and observing the daily prayers of the people there.  CLICK BELOW TO READ THE ENTIRE THAILAND POST…

THAILAND | PHUKET PART 01

Your stomach convolutes into a ball of nervousness mixed with excitement mixed with lets-jump-out-of-the-seat feeling. Your head is pressed against the airplane window trying to take in every inch of this new land that you've been dreaming about for months. And your heart is just about ready to burst thinking about how the next ten days are going to be. That feels just about awesome! Right? Walking on sandy beaches, the inner child in you dreaming of making sandcastles, and driving up and down the city eyes scanning every nook and corner -- I'm not quite sure if I'd ever be able to sum up this adventure in a few lines. We landed in Phuket in the early hours of the morning and drove through the city just as the sun said hello. Our home for the next five days was a little odd-ball called The Album Loft and though its name had been throughly mis-pronounced and mis-understood by many people there, it was just the right amount of perfect. Walking into th...

MIXTAPE 03 | WHAT I FEEL

Hello everyone! I found a similar list floating online somewhere and it got me to reflect on how music interacts with our emotions and feelings. I'm the run-away-from-all-emotions person. And yet I'm trying to come to terms with some pretty intense feelings these days. I feel music like books, have the ability to store memories and emotions...much like a bookmark at a particular page in your life.   Mixtape 03 | What i feel by UnderTheIndianSky on Grooveshark Are there any particular songs that spark a certain feeling in you. Is it possible that they might trigger the same in someone else. Would be interesting to find out! Until next time!

DIWALI 2013 | VIDEO

Hello! Festivals come around every year carrying a bit of nostalgia with them. Every year a bit of tradition is upheld with enthusiasm and vigour while another bit is shed or upgraded. You meet people you'd never meet otherwise, say hello to long lost friends, chat up your neighbors and just throw yourself in the craziness of it all. Our family is pretty much on the low-key side of things. We love lights and we hate crackers. We find pleasure in home-cooked food and coke and ending the nights in bed watching TV. Those are truly the best kind of holidays. The video below is a little glimpse into ours... What do your festivals look like? Do tell... Video made by me with the help of my lovely sister! Full credit to her...She's amazing :)

CAFE CULTURE

A cup of hot coffee accompanied by good humoured folks, an interesting book or just my rambling stream of thoughts. I'm a total sucker for dainty cafes that tease you with their charm and smells and just beckon you to step inside. I've always imagined myself as a Parisian busybody..walking down narrow cobbled roads and spending her afternoons in a charming roadside cafe. In keeping with my travel ambitions, I have scoured Pinterest to compile a list of cafes that i would love to hop over to! Now, where can i find that tele-porting device... Lily Vanilli Bakery, London ------------- Bonjour à la terrasse ------------- Mistral Cafe, Paris ------------- Chania, Crete, Greece ------------- Venice ------------- Ostuni, Puglia, Italy ------------- Bellagio, Lake Como, Italy ------------- Mykonos, Greece ------------- Any Cafe recommendations? Happy Weekend guys! And a happy Diwali!...
