A CUPPA JO! : Chomutov

Hello! This last week was one of the craziest i have had! I moved into my host family's house and they live in a small town called Chomutov, about 2 hrs away from Prague. It's a picturesque city filled with colourful buildings and red bricked houses. I was lucky to live in one of these typical European house. I got my own palatial room, one with a view to die for! I was so overwhelmed with joy that I had to pinch myself.   My beautiful host sister Terka. I was welcomed with alcohol, obviously. A belnd of authentic Czech alcohol and herbs. 4 shots down, i was already feeling tipsy!  They all looked at me and finally said 'Welcome to Chomutov' There were nights of crazy parties followed by early morning work. I hardly had time to breathe! Club after pub after cafe after bar! Phew! Soon it would be 5am, with the sun shining upon as and we would go to work. Some of the students I taught Such a week will always be remembered. The crazy Czech teens...

A WALK ON THE STREETS

“What has been the happiest moment of your life?” She paused, looked at him and laughed “When I met him!” “Do you know I'm not from India? I was born in Africa actually” Like a fairytale we thought. “He sailed and made his way through the sea and we met!” It was their 50 th anniversary a few days ago.

THE EVERYDAY GIRL: Naqiya Yusuf

Walking through the insane crowd at Kala Ghoda, i vaguely remember standing in front of this one stall that most of my friends were keen on dragging me to! Why, you might ask? Apart from the quirk that filled the entire place, the owner had an amazing, almost soothing hypnotic voice. Having known Random in Tandem - the brand - for a while now (and insanely in love with their Wordsworth bookends!) it was awesome meeting the person behind it all! So, f or our next 'The Everyday Girl' series, meet Naqiya Yusuf of Random in Tandem! What was your first job right out of college? Take us through your career path...   I'm sorry to disappoint..but I never did go to college. As for my first job - it was Motherhood! My life has paved out quite unconventionally and most of my education has come from life itself. I grew up in London, got married very young and moved to Bombay. Only after having two children and having an insane desire to get my creative juices flowing, did...

A WALK ON THE STREETS

The wanderer blends in, unnoticeable to the people around. He wants to know the details, like how much money does the coconut guy pay to book his spot on the road. “India is different from Germany, especially Mumbai...” He's been a traveller for two months now, one of which he spent in Delhi on a rooftop teaching acting. “Take my reference. They like me there!” ---------------------------------------------------- ('A Walk On The Streets' is a series by my friend Arindam and I. With my love for photographing people and his desire to interact with different personalities, we just came up with this little project. It was great fun walking around and seeing so much we usually ignore. Hope you guys like it!)

A WALK ON THE STREET

What we first saw, was the hair. Definitely the hair. And the casual ease with which she confidently walked about. She laughed and said “I'm not interesting at all, just someone looking to run away from this city!” Aren't we all?  ---------------------------------------------------- (A Walk on the streets is a series by my friend Arindam and I. RELAXED SUMMER STYLE

Summer is officially here, and has been for a while! I'm not really one for shorts but seeing how gorgeous these red coloured ones are, I think its time to muster up the courage to actually wear a pair this season. I've put together a simple, no-frills looks for the summer season, on that I am craving and most likely planning to give into. Aren't those flats gorgeous! 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 (layout by Under the Indian Sky)

LIGHTS. CAMERA. ACTION!

Hours and hours of group meetings, complete with endless food, laughter, gossip, fights and perhaps very little work. That's how most projects back in college got done!     And that is mostly how our year end project – to shoot, style, make up, conjure up, write, and do everything to make a kickass advertising film – went. I won't disclose the results...*ahem*..we were great...mostly. The idea was to style a bachelor pad, a one room apartment, in all its messy glory after a night of drunken revelry. After days and days of looking around we chanced upon this attic space that made each one of us smile a goofy grin! It was one of those dreamy attics that you always want to live in just once! Nevermind that all the windows were sealed shut, the floor peeling, dirt permanently glued to places and it being the most barren of places around. We had a lot of work ahead! And a day to set the place up! And voila! Like a proud parent i present the aft...

A CUPPA JO!

Hello! This weekend I headed over to Bratislava. First, you might ask...   Ít is a giant city about 5 hours away from Prague by road. It is the capital of Slovakia. Czech Republic and Slovakia together formed Czechoslovakia before 1993 after which they ended up becoming independent states. Ofcourse, many people know Bratislava from the movie 'Euro trip' and some crazy ones know it from 'Hostel'. Both those ideas of the city aren't further from the truth. I headed there with this amazing girl from Brazil who ended up being an excellent travel companion! The first thing that strikes you in Bratislava is the architecture and the art forms. Be it monuments or Graffitti, this place has it all! Meet Cumil, the man at work located in the Old Town. It is believed that touching his head can make your wish come true. Its quite fun to look for him and several other quirky structures around the city. Its like a treasure hunt to find them all. ...
