MAKE IT | COLD HOT CHOCOLATE!

I'm addicted to chocolate. There i said it! It is out in the open now so anyone and everyone with recipes involving chocolate can get in touch with me right about now. I've been meaning to use up the hot chocolate packets lying at home to aid an experiment. I don't really do hot drinks much. Cold drinks in the heat and cold drinks in the cold!  Add and subtract some….and you get this wow-inducing and delicious cold hot chocolate! A bit of an anomaly if i may say so. You need: Few pieces of Cadbury Dairy Milk 1 tsp of Nutella 1 packet of Hershey's Hot Cocoa (or any hot cocoa you might have) Ice cubes (lots of them!) 2 tbs of Milk 1 glass of cold Water Method: Melt the chocolate pieces using a double boiler.  Mix it with the Nutella and the hot chocolate powder. Put the ice cubes in a blender. Add the chocolate and cocoa mixture, milk and cold water. OPTIONAL (for extra kick...add a spoon of chocolate syrup!) Blend till the ice...

OF COCKTAILS AND DREAMS

Sipping on cocktails while learning how to make them? Amazing or what? Awed by the idea of learning something new, i went along with a couple of friends to a fun little bar in Gurgaon called Cocktails and Dreams. We signed up for a cocktail making class on Skillhippo and off we were! A delicious spread of various cocktail glasses and handsome helpings of alcohol promised us a good time indeed. I did learn how to make the said alcohol too and would gladly recreate them if i could remember anything at all! I think i've mixed up all the different cocktails and perhaps concocted a new one in my brain. Now that would be interesting to try! I loved Gin and Sin the most, and while i wasn't too fond of the other drinks we made, it was a fun experience. We used shakers the proper way, separated an egg white, tried to measure our drinks correctly, and dropped a lot of liquid of the floor and on us! Now i shall go rack my brains for the recipe for Gin and Si...

FRIDAY FOUR | RECIPES I WANT TO TRY

The first thing i usually do in the mornings is to fire up the laptop and stare at recipes that seem beyond my limited ability to heat water. Don't get me wrong. I try to cook. Try being the operative word. And my lovely companions around me gracefully scarf down my experimental food without a single complain. (On second thoughts...maybe i am a hidden Nigella!) But i still love to cook. And I shall try and try until I manage to remember to add salt and not burn the omelette. I shall start with dessert for obvious reasons and this  Chocolate Baileys Mud Cake  is number one on all my lists followed by a successful and decadent Mac & Cheese with Roasted Chicken . I'll charm the pants off my fellow family members as i bring out this  Cake Batter Milkshake  (chocolate of course!) and then at night sneak into the kitchen and help myself to some  Garlic Cheese Fries . What a perfect dream world right? (Any cooks out there willing to make some of this for m...

A SILENT SCREAM

It's not easy to talk about something you aren't even sure exists. It's also not easy to talk about something that makes you different from others and in so many ways almost identical to them.  Sweaty palms, that sinking feeling in your heart, the panic that rises in your stomach and the fear that things will always go wrong no matter what. There isn't one name to this problem. I'm not really beating about the bush, nor am i wanting to name it outright. I've been through depression before. It could be the same this time, or completely different. i can't snap out of it. No matter how hard i try and no matter how many times i tell myself its going to be okay. It's like a living being that sits in my stomach and waits and waits.  I panic. I scream in my head sometimes and i just want to sit in absolute silence on most days.  I cope through it through food and through long spells of couch therapy. It's not really coping i guess…more li...

Of Banana Chips and Coconut trees | Kerala 2014

The sound of auto's, the smell of green trees, familial laughter bursting in from all rooms, and the overeating of delicious food…This was a great trip to just sit back, unwind and catch up with family.  We stayed in a small village called Udinur. Imagine a house sprawling over acres filled with dozens of coconut trees, hyper dogs and cute little geese, and a beautiful veranda that housed many a late night family meetings. Early mornings were welcomed through homemade dosas and the days were spent travelling on noisy autos jumping up and down on bumpy roads. We spent a crazy amount of time in the water, enamoured by the clean white beaches while soaking in the sun. We walked like nomads on the market roads, oohing and ahhing over trinkets and bananas! And we ate a lot of banana chips. And i do mean a lot! That's the secret of all that extra weight… This time i tried summing up my experience in a video rather than pictures. It's always fun to try some...

MIXTAPE 04 | THE JOURNEY

This year, the days seem to be stretching on like an unbreakable rubber band. The high of a journey and the euphoria new places gave me is slowly wearing off.  And as sappy i sound, trust me, that sappy i feel. All dramatics included. The sighs and the longings. But till the time the next adventure knocks on my door, here are a few songs that keep me company. Also special mention to this awesomely brilliant and wonderful and quirky and all the adjectives you can muster up song by JJ Heller. The boat song. It's me. I think. Or i want it to be me. And give this girl a listen. It's all the cute i can handle for now! If you were a bird, I'd be a tree If you were asleep, Then i'd be a dream... Mixtape 04 | The Journey by UnderTheIndianSky on Grooveshark Till next time!

STYLED | WINTER SUN

You know you have the best sister in the world when she agrees to a little photoshoot amongst the ruins of your terrace. The sun is teasing us wholeheartedly this week, warming us one moment and disappearing completely the other. And so, we have been daringly taking out the dresses and the thinner tops from hiding and testing them out. Although in the end, we end up with layers of bulky jackets and sweaters tied up with random scarfs seeming as if the closet fell on us. Aren't we charming! Dress: Sarojini Nagar, Delhi Till next time!
