My friends from Delhi often ask me where my home is. Do I consider Mumbai my home—the city I
spent 2 struggling years in—or Delhi, the place I draw my roots from.
Honestly, I think I can very easily say I am from Mumbai. In these two very stressful and amazing
years I grew up as a person, interacted with some crazy loving people, made the best of friends,
made stupid decisions and just learned to let go. I have stayed up night, sitting by the curb of dimly
lit streets trying to capture and digest the mayhem.
Celebrating this love of Mumbai, Kanakia Art Gallery has brought together an exclusive photography contest titled ‘Mumbai Meri Jaan’—for all those who hide a piece of the city in their heart and love to capture moments when it’s at its best or worst. I too have spent hours sitting on Carter Road trying to capture the perfect sunset. And come on? Who hasn’t leaned out from the door of a moving local to picture that perfect train shot.
The contest, defined as the Eight Fold Path—Spirit of Mumbai, has eight categories, namely humanity, diversity, architecture, celebrations, business, entertainment, food and games. And the judge? It’s ace photographer Atul Kasbekar that’s going to be judging your pictures.
There are amazing prizes in store and you can participate using the hashtag #MumbaiMeriJaan and uploading the picture on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or mailing it to mmj@kanakia.com.
Contests ends on June 21st . So hurry up guys!
