SHY OF STREETS

Introvert. Socially awkward. Shy.

There are lots of words that people have used to describe the person I am. And I stand in unison with thousands of other people that agree that this isn't a problem, its just a personality trait that others have to accept.

What I didn't expect was this to stand in the way of my new found love of blogging and photographing. And that's when I found myself standing, camera in hand, in the middle of the street, pretending to look normal and busy. Normal. All I wanted was to go ahead and take a picture of that very colourful and striking display, but a part of me wanted to run away back in the covers of my bed. Next shop maybe...I told myself and walked ahead. The idea of stopping, framing a shot and clicking also meant calling attention to myself and having the eyes of hundred other people upon me. Something that made me uncomfortable.

I've started a series with a friend. Maybe this blog post is about that...Maybe its not. But that proved to be a good start to push me to ignore that little voice in my head that points out the number of eyes on me. But I still hesitate, pull back a little and let the first few shots go in the hope that i'll build up confidence for the next one. And maybe it will always be like that, and that's that kind of blogger I will be! Or maybe i'll just slowly ease into it. Who knows?

  1. Hi Mana,

They are beautiful shots and they dont look like work of someone who was conscious of her presence while clicking.
Your words and pictures are contradicting each other but I guess that's what life is all about.
I wish you had a follower tab here to allow me to keep a track of your next blog.

    1. Thank you so much!

These shots were taken while trying best to appear invisible. Had you seen me from afar, i would have looked like a regular passer-by. I wonder what would have come out had i spent a great deal of time framing and clicking. :)

I wish i had a follower tab too, but i'm new to blogger (previously on wordpress). Shall figure it out. For now i have follow by email. (and if you have tips on how to add a follower tab?)

    2. Hi Mana,

If these were while attempting to be invisible, you should actually go ahead and flaunt yourself.

Regarding follower tab, just explore. I got mine through hit and trial. Try google, add different gadgets until a preview shows you a follower tab. Probably you can find a blog about how to add one.
      Good luck finding.

  2. I think within these traits, there are other traits that you don't say outright.
    Inspiring. Infectious. Beautiful.
Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
    The photographs are stunning.

MAKE IT | SPRAY PAINTED JAR CANDLES (part 02)

In a previous post , we made beautiful spray painted heart jars. Here is part two of the tutorial where I turn those same jars into decadent smelling candles. You need: Candle wax of your choice Candle wick Mason Jar (Follow the tutorial here ) Fragrance Oil  Before you begin, be sure you have the appropriate type and size of the wick. If your jar is wide, make sure wick is wide enough in diameter to burn optimally. And, if its narrow and long, make sure the length of the wick is sufficient enough.  Measure out the amount of wax needed. For this project, I melted the wax in a make-shift double boiler made from two metal containers—one small and one large. Fill water in the large container. Put the wax in the smaller container and place it in the larger one. Melt the wax on low to medium-low heat. Never leave melting wax unattended! While the wax is melting, secure your wick to the bottom of your mason jar. Dip the end in the melting wax and a...

THE MIXTAPE PROJECT / 01

I've been working on this series idea for a while now and finally it's here! The Mixtape Project, a series to document interesting people, their music choices and their personal quirk. Here is my first guest for today... MAYANK KUMAR / DELHI If you could pick one, which superhero would you be?  I don't really follow the superhero concept but if I had to, I guess i'd pick Batman. That's simply because of his sharp mind and his ability to solve humongous issues with just his mere intellect. What would your DJ name be?  Can't imagine myself behind a console wearing earphones bigger than my face. But I guess 'Max' would do? Or just M? What's your favourite joke?  A jealous haryanavi man opened his own momos shop right next to the famous 'Yo! China' and named it 'Yo! Bhi China'. What's the weirdest nickname people call you? Mickey. My first birthday cake had a Mickey Mouse on it. And that's where the name ...
